Individual counseling and play therapy sessions are 45 minutes in length. Beyond Tomorrow Counseling offers a variety of appointment times throughout the week to help accommodate busy schedules.
Weekly sessions are generally recommended to support consistent progress; however, session frequency is tailored to your treatment goals, progress, and logistical needs.
After-school and evening appointments are currently very limited. Many clients choose a consistent weekly time slot (e.g., same day, same time each week), and once your spot is scheduled, it’s reserved just for you.
If a preferred time is not immediately available, you may begin therapy at a less ideal time to get started right away. Once you’re an established client, you’ll receive priority when a more preferred time opens up. Families who have been waiting for after-school slots are given first choice when those times become available — which is why Beyond Tomorrow Counseling’s after-school availability tends to stay full.
The initial intake appointment lasts approximately 50 to 60 minutes and provides time to discuss your concerns, review important background information, and go over practice policies. Intake sessions help lay the foundation for a strong therapeutic relationship and ensure therapy is tailored to each client’s unique needs.
For Children (Play Therapy Clients):
If therapy is for a child, the intake session is a parent/adult-only appointment. You’ll meet with the therapist to provide a full picture of your child’s emotional, developmental, and behavioral history. Together, we’ll discuss current concerns and begin creating a treatment plan designed specifically for your child’s age and needs.
To maintain privacy and focus, children should not attend this session. Please note that Beyond Tomorrow Counseling does not provide childcare, so we ask that you make childcare arrangements in advance.
For Teens:
Teen intake sessions vary depending on the teen’s age and the family’s preferences. Some intakes begin with a parent-only portion, followed by time with the teen; others may include the teen for the full session. We’ll talk through your concerns, review the teen’s emotional and behavioral history, and begin discussing goals for therapy. This flexible approach helps create a safe, collaborative space where both teens and parents feel heard.
You will receive specific guidance when scheduling, so you’ll know whether your teen should attend the intake.
For Adults:
For adult clients, the intake session is a time for us to explore your current concerns, life history, and what you're hoping to gain from therapy. We'll also review relevant background information and begin identifying goals for treatment. This session is focused on you, your story, and creating a supportive path forward.
We understand that life happens — sometimes illness strikes or schedules unexpectedly overlap. However, please remember that your session time is reserved just for you. Without notice, we’re unable to offer that time to another client.
We kindly ask for at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. Please contact your therapist directly with any scheduling concerns.
If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice or do not attend your scheduled session (no-show), you will be billed the full session fee. We will do our best to reschedule your appointment within the same week if an opening is available.
Your communication helps us support all of our clients effectively — thank you for being thoughtful and respectful of this policy.

Good Faith Estimate
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of your mental health care.
This estimate reflects the reasonably expected charges for services based on your presenting concerns and the anticipated frequency of sessions, which will be discussed during the intake process. It is available upon request and is provided to help you plan for the cost of care.
Please note:
The estimate does not include unexpected costs that may arise during treatment.
It does not cover additional services or referrals that may be recommended.
It excludes fees such as late cancellations or no-show charges.
The Good Faith Estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to receive services.
If you are billed for more than the amount listed in your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute the charges. You may request:
A revised bill that reflects the original estimate, or
A negotiation of the bill through a dispute resolution process.
