Therapy Approaches
Therapy Approaches
I take an integrated, individualized approach to therapy, blending methods like Play Therapy, AutPlay, EMDR, and Theraplay to meet the unique needs of each child, teen, and adult. Every session is tailored to support growth, healing, and connection in ways that feel meaningful and effective for each person.
Play Therapy
Play is a child’s natural language—and Play Therapy gives them a safe way to express thoughts and feelings they may not yet have words for. Through creative and guided play, children can process emotions, build problem-solving skills, and strengthen self-regulation, all within a supportive and understanding relationship.
AutPlay Therapy
AutPlay Therapy is a play-based approach designed for children and teens who are neurodivergent, including those with autism, ADHD, sensory differences, or social communication challenges. This model focuses on building emotional regulation, connection, and social skills through engaging, structured play experiences that meet each child right where they are.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
EMDR is an evidence-based therapy that helps people—children, teens, and adults—process distressing memories or experiences that may be impacting how they feel or react today. By using bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements or tapping), EMDR helps the brain “re-file” difficult experiences so they can be remembered without causing the same emotional intensity, promoting healing and resilience.
Theraplay
Theraplay is an attachment-based approach that uses play, nurturing, and connection to strengthen relationships between children and caregivers. Sessions often include playful, structured activities that build trust, self-esteem, and emotional security. Theraplay helps children feel safe, seen, and deeply connected to their important relationships.
Integrated and Individualized Care
No single approach works for everyone. I combine these methods—along with traditional talk therapy and creative interventions—to meet each person’s needs and goals. Whether supporting a child through play or helping an adult process past experiences, my goal is always the same: to create a space where healing, growth, and connection can happen.
